What is the CMMC Program Management Office (PMO)?
The CMMC Program Management Office (PMO), under the authority of the DoD Chief Information Officer (CIO), oversees the implementation and effectiveness of the CMMC program. Its responsibilities, defined in the CMMC Final rule (32 CFR 170.6), include:
- Monitoring the performance of the CyberAB and taking corrective action as necessary
- Reviewing the decisions of the CyberAB and evaluating any alleged conflicts of interest
- Sponsoring background investigations and foreign ownership risk assessments for CMMC ecosystem participants as necessary
- Investigating when a contractor’s CMMC status is called into question by the CyberAB, a C3PAO, or anyone knowledgeable of the security processes and activities of the organization seeking assessment (OSA).
